Should You Read Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree?

S

Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree is one of my new favorite slice of life fantasy stories. Follow Viv the former orc adventurer as she retires to follow her dream, starting a coffee shop. Is coffee popular in this medeival setting town? Not one bit, but Viv is ready to bring this gnomish delight to the common folks.

If you want a low stakes, relaxing story that will make you smile (and maybe cry a bit if you are me) I can’t recommend this one enough. If you are hoping for a more fast, action packed story the arrival of new baked goods may not quite scratch that itch in the same way.

Hated it!Loved it!

So, should you read Legends and Lattes? I give this one a strong yes!

What I loved

  • The characters in this story are just all so loveable. Viv starts her coffee shop and you watch as she slowly makes new connections in the city and figures out how to make her dream into a reality. The book portrays great friendships with compelling characters.
  • The plot in this story did an excellent job of providing constant hints that things are happening behind the scenes to be curious about while still providing the slice of life story where major plot events consist of adding new items to the menu.
  • This book feels perfect for a fall night curled up by a fire in a big blanket.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Coffee shops, cinnamon rolls, and books are all things that bring me peace and comfort. If any of the images above gave you that same safe and warm feeling I recommend checking this book out.

Favorite Quote

The combined aromas of hot cinnamon, ground coffee, and sweet cardamom intoxicated her, and as she brewed and smiled and served and chatted, a deep contentment welled up. It was a glowing warmth she’d never experienced before, and she liked it. She liked it a great deal.

So, Should I read ?
